Our Australian Family tree as far as we are aware is as follows:
Mark and I have
two daughters, Shanley and Erin who are 19 and 16 respectively.
Mark Anderson
Bleasdale and Lesley Anne Bleasdale are the children of June Irene and
Keith Anderson (Thomas) Bleasdale. Keith Anderson (Thomas on his
birth certificate) Bleasdale is the son of Thomas Bleasdale and Violet
Bleasdale. Keith is now 70 years of age and both his parents are deceased.
Keith's brothers and sisters names are Oliver, Neville, Rita and Marjory.
Keith's father, Thomas left the family when Keith was quite young so as far as he is aware, Thomas was born in England (possibly Blackpool). Keith's brother, Oliver did keep in contact with Thomas over the years so he will be providing more information to us shortly which I will then pass on.

David Bleasdale(Denmark) Submitted August 03, 1997
My Father was born in Horwich, Nr Bolton, Lancashire on 17th August 1894 and his full name was William James Bleasdale. On his birth certificate his fathers name is Richard James Bleasdale and his mothers name is Sarah Bleasdale (formerly McQuire) and the address is given as 22 Mottram Street Horwich in the County of Lancaster.
He was a member of the 213th and 116th of the C.E.F.(Canadian Expeditionary Forces),this information I discovered after his death when I discovered a Certificate issued with War Service Badge dated March 25th 1936 in Ottawa,Canada. Unfortunately I never found the actual War Service Badge. I also know that he was wounded at Vimy Ridge in France (believe that was 1915) and he always spoke about that he was one of the first of wounded Canadian troops to return to Canada. I know that he was from a large family because that much he had mentioned but most of the time he did not like to talk about it.

John H . Bleasdale RN (Retired) Plymouth, Devon, UK. Submitted August 04, 1997
My name is John BLEASDALE and I am ex ROYAL NAVY. I left the service as a Chief G.I. in 1993 and I come from Lancashire. I have done quite a bit of research into the family history, trying to complete a task an old aunt of mine started. We do come from Lancashire where the village of BLEASDALE still stands today. While in the RN I visited many different places around the world and only bumped into one other Bleasdale and that was by chance in Tahiti.
If any other Bleasdale's
would like to contact me please feel free. John.
I live, with my wife Peach and two children Lauren and Sam, on the outskirts of Sydney (about 25 kms from the city).
I originally came
from Preston in Lancashire, but moved up to Glasgow (Scotland) in 1964,
where I was schooled. My father was born in Bath, and my mother in
Yorkshire. My paternal grandfather was born in Cumbria, right at
the top of the Lake District, and was brought up on a farm in a little
village called
Mungrisedale, near to Carlisle. This place is our "family home".
There has been
a larger than usual age gap between our generations, my father being 38
when I was born, and his father being at least 40 when he was born.
My grandfather was born in 1886, and so does not get a mention on the IGI.
My great grandfather was born, I think, in 1831, and his name
was John, the
same as my grandfather (not an easy name to distinguish when raking through
the archives).
There are still living relatives, but they are getting on, and I keep getting conflicting information from them about who my great great grandparents were. It would appear that the farm in Mungrisedale was not something that had been in the family for long, and that in fact my great grandfather had bought it. So where he was born, and who his parents were, remain a mystery for us. Very frustrating.
Here in Australia
I will eventually make contact with the other Bleasdale's, but for now
am concentrating my efforts in extending our family tree knowledge.
I do, though, have quite a large collection of excellent Bleasdale wine.
I can report, without any familial bias (and, sadly, no
shares in the
business either!) that the Australian Bleasdale wines are very, very nice
indeed. Do you purchase them when you have your big Bleasdale get-togethers
over there in the USA? If not, you should give it some thought as
the reds especially are very drinkable.

I just saw your Bleasdale page and thought I would submit a query:
I am descended from a William BRACKEN who came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1699 from Lancashire. I think I have found his baptism at Melling, Lancs. on 9 SEP 1671, a son of Thomas BRACKEN and Margaret BLEASDALE. Thomas and Margaret were married on 11 JUN 1662 at Chipping, Lancs. Thomas was listed in the marriage record as being from Goosnargh, Lancs. and Margaret was from Bolland, Lancs. Besides William, they had three other children: Robert, Henry and Elizabeth. Thomas BRACKEN died about 1683 and his wife Margaret was buried on the same day in 1671 that William was baptized.
Has anyone seen any information on this family? Any help would be appreciated.
